My Top 5 Favorite Images from June 2020

My Top 5 Favorite Images from June 2020

Today I am taking a look back at June and reflecting through pictures! Join me as I look back at June!

I LOVE this image! This was Clarks second time to wakeboard with Stephen and he absolutely loves it! Stephen had the GoPro with him this day we snapped this pic from the video he took, so the quality isn’t great but I love those smiles!!

This cutie lost his two front teeth within weeks of each other and I just love his toothless, freckled grin!!

By the way, if you need a cute way to save your kiddos teeth, I snagged a tooth album, very similar to this one, on Amazon and love it! Apparently the design we have is out of stock right now. Either way, this is a cute, organized way to keep all their baby teeth!

We had a wonderful time in Mississippi visiting family and picking TONS of blueberries! I love this cuties smile and he was loving helping…at least for a little bit 😉

I love everyone in this picture and there are no words for how full my heart is when I look at it! LOVE!

Pure joy!! I love summer and our lakes days because we get outside, enjoy nature, listen to music, swim and ski, and just have fun! This cutie loves jumping in and I love his enthusiasm!

BONUS!

I couldn’t stop at just five! Haha! This cutie knows how to cheese it up for a camera and I love his little smile 🙂

I’ve had some people ask me which rash guard the boys where and I am linking it here. This is the only one (so far!) that my boys don’t get cold in and protects them from the sun. Most other rash guards freeze them out! 😉 This one is the first one that I have found that doesn’t make them cold when wet.

That’s it for June!

I’ll see you back here on Wednesday where I will be sharing what I eat in a day!

Happy Monday, friends!

Holly Tanella’s Top 4 Summer Skin Care Tips

Holly Tanella’s Top 4 Summer Skin Care Tips

If you’ve been following my posts, you read here that I have fallen head over heals in love with my new skincare routine! Holly Tanella is the founder and medical esthetician at Boho Med Spa in Allen, Texas. She has helped transform my skin and it is looking better than ever!

Since we are entering summer and spending more time outside in the hot summer sun, I asked Holly what tips she has to help keep our skin safe. Here are Holly’s top four summer skincare tips:

Avoid UV damage as much as possible.

UV rays can actually damage your DNA when you get too much sun exposure without any protection (over 15 minutes from 11 am – 3 pm). UV damage causes premature aging and sun damage that shows up on the skin as brown spots and fine lines. UV damage is one of the top reasons that cause our skin to age prematurely.

How to avoid UV damage:

  1. Wear SPF as it blocks the rays which cause damage to your skin. While in the sun, you should re-apply your SPF every 2-3 hours depending on how much you are sweating. Choosing the right SPF is critical. â€‹Wearing a physical block sunscreen, like zinc oxide and titanium dioxide, is better for you as the SPF ingredients do not mess up your hormones like chemical-based sunscreens. Avoid sunscreens that have â€‹avobenzone, octinoxate, and oxybenzone. My personal favorite SPF’s are Zinc It Over, which is a mist that is super easy to apply and even use on the kids, and Rhonda Allison’s Daytime Defense SPF 30, which is a lightweight cream.
  2. Wear hats and sunglasses to physically block the sun. Find the biggest, floppiest hat you can and sit in the shade as much as possible. Wearing sunglasses outside is also a must. Not only will this protect your eyes but it will also prevent you from squinting which can cause crows feet (lines around our eyes). Get spray tans instead!

Add a vitamin C serum into your skincare regimen.

Vitamin C is high in antioxidants that reduce free radicals that cause your skin to age. This is a great ingredient to add to your skincare regimen for it will reduce premature aging that we commonly get from the sun. The best forms of vitamin C are â€‹magnesium ascorbyl phosphate and tetrahexyldecyl ascorbate, both of these forms are converted to natural acid vitamin C in the skin causing no irritation, unlike most vitamin C’s on the market. These forms are also the most potent and high-grade you can get. My two personal favorites are Circadia’s Vitamin C Reversal Serum â€‹and BOHO’s â€‹YTH Serum.

Stay cool as much as possible.

For years it was thought that direct UV exposure was the only thing that increased pigmentation. We now know that heat also makes pigmentation worse by increasing the activity of melanocytes. This could be from being outside on a hot day. These all increase the skin’s internal temperature. Try to avoid these as much as possible if you’re serious about avoiding getting pigmentation.

To correct pigmentation, Circadia’s White Veil Brightener â€‹is a must-have product. This product tells your body not to make pigmentation. It inhibits your body from sending messages to the melanocyte to create pigmentation. So if you get too hot, your hormones go crazy, or you get a little too much sun, your body will not form that unwanted pigmentation. Another idea is to use a mister fan to help stay cool while outside.

Drink plenty of water.

Water is the cheapest form of skincare. When we are dehydrated not only do we feel bad but we also look bad. Being dehydrated, which easily happens in the summer, causes dehydration lines. These show up as tiny lines that look like elephant skin close up. Fear not! They are not here to stay as long as you drink the amount of water your body needs, they will go away immediately. You should be drinking half your body weight in ounces every day. If you work out that day, add an additional 20 ounces. If you are outside, make sure you are drinking water every hour!

I hope you found these summer skin care tips as helpful as I did!!

Coconut Bowls

Coconut Bowls was created and inspired by the opportunity to reduce single use plastics through sourcing sustainable coconut shells, while providing jobs for low-income artisans. I love that their bowls are handcrafted by artisans from coconuts that were discarded as waste, they are so beautiful, and every purchase supports sustainability and helps the environment.  I also admire their company and its purpose:

“Giving back is at the core of the Coconut Bowls purpose, and thanks to the incredible support of the Coco Community, who have not only helped Coconut Bowls champion sustainability to millions of people around the world, you’ve helped donate tens of thousands of dollars to environmental charities through Coconut Bowls verified 1% For The Planet commitment. In addition to this commitment, Coconut Bowls has offset all of the carbon from every shipment since the very first order back in 2016.”

Zinc It Over

I HATE wearing sunscreen…especially on my face! I always breakout, it feels awful, it messes with my makeup. THAT HAS ALL CHANGED!! My skin care guru recommend I use sunscreen because I have sun spots, plus were are outside A LOT. Spring/summer = lake around here. Zinc It Over is awesome! I can wear my makeup as usual, then I just spritz this on top and voila! I am covered and protected!

Lakanto Chocolate

Chocolate is always a fav! BUT, with my health issues, I cant consume sugar…so that got me on the hunt for something that I could eat that would satiate my chocolate craving. Enter Lakanto Monkfuit Chocolate Bars! I love them! I usually grab a couple squares and nosh on raw almonds while watching my fav show.

Our boat!

Summer is just better on the lake. My husband is incredible at finding good deals and this boat was no exception! We had been on the hunt for the PERFECT family boat for a couple of years…and ladies and gentlemen…we FOUND HER! We purchased her last year and spend pretty much every weekend on the lake in the summer. She’s a pre-owned (though you wouldn’t know it looking at it) tri-toon and my hubby named her ‘No Plans.’ Which is fitting for this quarantine life we are living!

We have already been out a few times this year and can’t wait for more lake days!

Love Bug Apparel

Love Bug Apparel is by far one of my favorite clothing lines! Aside from it being our dear friends company, I would buy every shirt they own! They are cute, soft, durable, and so super comfy! You can pretty much always catch me wearing one of their shirts! Here are just a few of my favs:

Write the Word

My Write the Word journal is one of my favorites! I love waking up before the kids and writing down the Bible verse for the day and getting a moment to write out my prayers. I love the simplicity of the journal and the space to make it yours. I recently finished my first journal and now starting my second – Cultivate Prayer.

Trolls World Tour Soundtrack

Y’all…we rented the movie and watched it more times than I can count (we had to get our moneys worth!). Now we listen to the soundtrack allllll day. And I’m ok with it! My boys ask Alexa, “Play the new Trolls soundtrack” and we listen day after day! My favorite song is Don’t Slack. What about you? Have y’all been listening to this on repeat??

What are your loving right now? I’d love to hear!
